Arabesque
6 x 6
oil on masonite

Sold

I've been doing these brooches for a couple of months now. I think they are improving, but I still can't get the iridescent quality of the gem stones.

Hi Esther. What a fantastic, unique subject matter! I think your paintings look absolutely charming.

I absolutely love this series, and am equally jealous of your technique and your jewelry collection. :)

Thanks guys. I've been following advice to paint one subject for a long-ish period of time. So I guess it's been 6 months of rhinestone brooches.

Most of these brooches I bought at a junk store that was run by a cigar smoking old guy, who sold them to me for $2.00 each. Some place, "antique store" or "vintage shops" won't let go of them for less than 15.00-20.00 each. Crazy! As pretty as they are nobody wears them much. Except my stylish friend Morgan. Who's brooch this is.
