I just got accepted to a gallery! Yay me!  It's The Phoenix Gallery on the Country Club Plaza, in Kansas City, of course. They only took two to start. but it really feels great.

It's dry and scanned so you can see it properly.

I accepted a little commission to paint a breakfast. Bacon, eggs and biscuits and gravy.  So here is my process. I prefer to work directly from life but sometimes that just doesn't seem practical. In this case since I've never painted biscuits and gravy and because biscuits and gravy have no good shape, I made a breakfast and photographed it. Here are the results.

Deisel and Diamond
6 x 6
oil on board

I co-worker is retiring next month. You can tell that she is looking forward to it. normal she is a bit cranky but lately, she's gotten much friendlier and she even looks younger. She says she's really ready to go. But I know she'l miss these two guys, the owners dogs. So they will be my little retirement present for her.

A Bunch of Carrots
8 x 8
oil on board

I like the carrots with the tops. So much more interesting to paint. But also so much more expensive to buy.  I wonder if the tops have any culinary value or if they are solely for looks.

Striped Cookies

My boyfriend is very fond of this type of cookie.  I however like to think I've outgrown them.

small

not quite so small.

Silk poppies on a floral tablecloth.
I did the first one 6 x 6 and the second one a bit larger 8 x 8.  As I'm scanning them it looks like they scan a bit more vivid than they are in really life.
